Designing Your System
LETS DESIGN YOUR SYSTEM

Athens Heating and Air will design your system based on square footage, number of floors, floorplan, and heat loss calculations. To Contact us for an appointment, call or email us. We will be out within 24-hours.

If you already have an idea of what you are looking for or would just like to get an idea of pricing, AHA has set up this page for these purpose. On this page you will be able to select a system with options and receive a price quote. After selecting your system you may proceed to the financing your system page and apply for financing. Sizing your new system is of great importance.

SIZING YOUR NEW SYSTEM

A system to small - may not get the job done in weather extremes. The system may run too much or continually increasing power bills and shortening the life of the system.

A system to big- may cool or heat the home too quickly and not have time to adequately remove moisture from the air causing discomfort and problems. Over time, too much moisture can allow mold growth in your home and cause decay in your structure or health problems. Also, the constant starting and stopping of the system can decrease the life of the equipment. The power for this oversized system will increase electric bills.

Tonnage- is the size of the system

Seers- The overall efficiently rating of the system. The efficiency savings is around 8% per seer. The higher the seer rating the more efficient the system.

LET'S DESIGN IT NOW

What size system is needed? The best way to estimate what kind of system you need is to calculate the total square feet of your home and divide by 600. A Ranch needs one system and a two story requires 2 systems.

  • A one story 1800 square feet divided by 600 = 3 ton system
  • A two story 1800 square foot house
1100 square feet first floor divided by 600 = 1.83 always round up to 2 ton
700 square feet second floor divided by 600 = 1.16 always round up to 1.5 ton

* AHA will use many different variables in estimating a system but this will get you started

Just fill in the number of units needed. AHA will be
match the heat pump with a comparable air handler.
